gnome vs kde good artical..

right now i find a down fall with all these new users of KDE... you know eyecandy. With my knowledge of linux (i'm a distrohopper/Windows Manager myself, im stuck between Wolvix and Fedora 11), i still cant get Compiz + KDE4.3 working in some programs. After following, Fedora Unofficial FAQs, Fedora Wiki, and fedoraforums.org... i still can't get it working. KDE4 big problem to me is getting components working together... especially for the young people who like Eye Candy. the Compiz things i love to use is Desktop Cube, Minimize/Maximize, Application Switcher, and FadeIn/Out... if those things that be worable with KDE + Compiz + Emerald. There goes the users. It seems to impress a lot of younger PC users to love eye candy. sure i could use KWin but i know Compiz which has more options. Kwin is promising but some of the effects are not very customizable.

Right now, I'm running Fedora 11 with GNOME, KDE4, XFCE, PekWM, LXDE (i love LXDE faster than lighter than XFCE), OpenBox, WindowsManager, E17, and FluxBox.. and compiz work with everything except KDE... even XFCE4 has an awesome Composition editor (nothing to fancy) but something like Desktop Cube of Kwin can let me use Mouse buttons to use for Rotate Cube :(

Any way... i think Compiz should be default for KDE4 (more developers and users) than Kwin.

KDE4 got a lot of flack when it came out but slowly its becoming more stable and fixing its bugs surely.

I love KDE3... only if the grasp KDE3's idea + the KDE4 eyecandy. oh what a dream :-D give it about til KDE 4.5 or 4.5 release before you give it a whirl IMHO
